We Protect Reproductive Rights with the Help of Our Board
Personal PAC’s goal to protect reproductive rights in Illinois continues to be met because of the support, leadership, and hard work of its talented and passionate Board of Directors (both past and present). Thirty years ago our state was a nightmare for reproductive rights. Illinois is now one of the most pro-choice state in the country thanks to the tireless efforts of our board members.
We are proud to announce that the Personal PAC Board was recently made even stronger with the addition of three extraordinary new board members and the return of a former board member. Please join us in welcoming Domonique Battle, Dr. Susan Buchanan, Amanda Pillsbury, and Sara Dixon Spivy to the Personal PAC Board of Directors!
Domonique Battle is a Portfolio Director at A Better Chicago. She is also the founder of Getting To Center, LLC, a life and career coaching and nonprofit consulting business. Prior to these roles, she was the Executive Director of Foundations of Music and before that spent 10 years at City Year Chicago. During her time at City Year Chicago, she specialized in HR strategy, operations management, stakeholder management, team building, and employee engagement. Domonique is in the process of recertifying for the SHRM-CP certification, she has a B.A. in Business Administration from National Louis University and an M.S. in Nonprofit Management from the Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership. Passionately invested in giving back to her community, Domonique volunteers at the Museum of Science and Industry. She enjoys being a mentor and career coach to many, paying it forward for all the time her sponsors and mentors have given her. As a board member, she wants to make an impact on her community and bring value to Personal PAC’s important work. We know Domonique will help protect reproductive rights here in Illinois!
Dr. Susan Buchanan is a Clinical Associate Professor at UIC where she directs the EPA-funded Great Lakes Center for Reproductive and Children’s Environmental Health. Prior to joining UIC, Susan practiced primary care for over a decade. During her family medicine residency in Burlington, Vermont, she was trained as an abortion provider at the Planned Parenthood of Northern New England clinic in Burlington. Susan attained her BS at Denison University, her MD at Ohio State and a Master’s in Public Health at UIC. She is a Village Trustee for Oak Park and past member of NARAL. As a board member, she hopes to further the Personal PAC mission by participating in outreach, organizing events, and providing health expertise to directly engage elected officials.
For the past sixteen years, Amanda Pillsbury has been a Prosecutor for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Felony Trial Division. She received a BA from the University of Illinois and JD from the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Amanda volunteers with Lawyers in the Classroom (which teaches legal principles to Chicago Public School students), Western Springs Little League and the Parent Association Board at St. John of the Cross School. The passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg inspired her to get more involved to protect the rights that trailblazers like RBG worked so hard to secure. As a board member, she will fight to ensure that a woman’s right to choose remains just that, a woman’s right, that should not be taken away from her.
Sara Dixon Spivy is returning to the Personal PAC Board of Directors. She is currently the Cook County Bureau of Technology’s legal counsel. Prior to this role, Sara worked for the State’s Attorney’s Office in the Civil Actions Bureau, and prior to that she was a supervising attorney with the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender. Sara attended the University of Chicago before attending Duke University School of Law. In addition to being a Greater Chicago Leadership Fellow for the Class of 2018, she is an alumna of the Illinois Institute for Women in Leadership Training Academy (formerly IWIL and now IWILTA) Class of 2017. Sara was first elected to the Oak Park and River Forest High School Board of Education in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 and is serving her second year as Board President. Sara’s focus is on government accountability and customer service to ensure the needs of all constituents are met and on closing equity gaps for people of color. As a board member, she is committed to educating the next generation of leaders who will continue the work to expand and protect reproductive rights in Illinois.
