Women’s reproductive rights are under attack. But with your support, we can fight back.
If we’ve learned anything from the past several years, it’s that reproductive rights are not secure. Additionally, we are just one election away from losing all of the ground we’ve gained over the past three decades, even here in Illinois. Because of that, Personal PAC’s work must continue. Our next battle is to prepare for the 2022 election when ALL 177 House and Senate seats, all Constitutional offices including Governor and Attorney General, all Cook County Commissioner seats, and Cook County Board President are up for election.
The 2022 election will determine the fate of legal abortion in the post-Roe era through 2033 as all legislative districts will be redrawn under the re-mapping process taking place this year. The only way to protect women’s reproductive rights in Illinois is to elect pro-choice candidates to the IL General Assembly and then hold them accountable.
Personal PAC is the only organization whose sole mission is to do just that,
and your support will allow is to defend and advance reproductive rights
here in Illinois – and really, the whole Midwest.
With the pending evisceration of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court, the devastating financial impact of COVID-19, and the once-in-a-decade 2022 election around the corner, your financial support is more critical than ever to protect Illinois from right-wing extremists.
You likely saw that Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, recently signed a bill into law which bans abortion the moment a fetal heartbeat has been detected. This effectively prohibits any abortion after around six weeks of pregnancy – before many people are even aware they are pregnant! This case is just the newest law on the growing list of restrictive, cruel laws meant to challenge Roe v. Wade in court.
What makes this even more concerning is that, as of today, 22 states have trigger laws that could be used to make abortion illegal as soon as Roe is modified or overturned. This is more and more likely with the US Supreme Court’s conservative majority AND additional states are enacting trigger laws each month. When Illinois repealed its trigger law in 2017 with HB 40, we were one of only four states that had a trigger law.
These horrific attacks are exactly why we cannot stop our fight to protect women’s reproductive rights in Illinois! As you know, elections have consequences and we need to be as prepare as possible for the once-in-a-decade 2022 election.
