Dr. Michele Bratcher Goodwin is a global thought leader, a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of
California, and the award-winning author of Policing the Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization
of Motherhood and The Atlantic article, “The New Jane Crow.” Her writings address pressing matters
of law, society, and global health. Goodwin’s publications appear across five books and more than
100 law review articles, book chapters, and commentaries. Her opinion editorials and commentaries
can be found in The New York Times, LA Times, Salon.com, Politico, Forbes, The Christian Science
Monitor, and other platforms. She is a frequent contributor to Ms. magazine.
Greg Harris was elected to the Illinois General Assembly in 2006 and is now Majority Leader of the
House of Representatives. He has assisted with the legislative strategy to pass every pro-choice law
introduced since taking office. Harris is the first openly gay person in Illinois to become a member of
Legislative Leadership and is openly living with HIV. Harris was the Chief Sponsor of the Illinois
Marriage Equality law and has spent his political career advocating for mental health services,
homeless and at-risk youth, comprehensive breast cancer services, healthcare reform, and more.
Harris was a fierce champion of the 2019 Reproductive Health Act (RHA) and the 2021 repeal of
the dangerous “Parental Notice of Abortion” (PNA) law, making Illinois a 100% pro-choice state.
Melinda Bush was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2012. Bush has worked tirelessly to fight
for gender equality, prevent sexual harassment, increase government transparency, protect Illinois’
environment, combat the opioid epidemic, and more. Since taking office, Bush has been a proud and
fierce leader on all issues related to reproductive rights and justice. Bush helped lead the fight in
2017 to pass HB 40, which repealed Illinois’ “trigger law,” the 2019 Reproductive Health Act (RHA),
and the 2021 repeal of the 1995 right-wing inspired, cruel PNA law. Bush has worked to recruit and
support other pro-choice candidates, and has made generous room in her office over months at a time
for one particular pro-choice advocate.
William McNary is the Co-Director for Citizen Action/Illinois, the state’s largest public interest
organization that works on an ambitious multi-issue agenda impacting consumers, workers, students,
and low-income and other marginalized communities. McNary is one of the nation’s leading advocates
for health care reform and is a founding member of Health Care for America Now!, the largest
national grassroots health care coalition which led to the successful passage of the Affordable Care
Act. McNary has been at Personal PAC’s side in nearly all of our political and legislative battles. He
serves on the board of the Voter Participation Center, which empowers unmarried women, people of
color, and other underrepresented groups to participate in the democratic process.
